HOW DO I KNOW IF MY FURNACE NEEDS REPLACING?
A furnace may be in need of replacement if one or more of the following symptoms arise. You just need to know what to look for in order to find it! In order to assist you in determining if it is the right time to replace your furnace, the team at American HVAC has provided you with this checklist:
- Your furnace is over 15 years old. The general rule of thumb in the HVAC industry is that once a furnace reaches 15 years of age, you should start thinking about replacing it once it reaches the end of its useful life. As the age of the furnace becomes older, there will be a more frequent need for maintenance on it. In addition, it is imperative to understand that the longer you wait to replace a system that has almost completely depreciated, the more money you are likely to end up having to spend in the long run.
- You are experiencing an increase in the cost of your energy bills and equipment repairs. Older furnaces are more likely to overcompensate in order to provide the levels of heat they did when they were brand new. As a result, they will be overworked and will eventually break down because of overwork. As a result, you will be paying higher energy bills and have to pay for more repairs on a regular basis.
- In your home, there are different temperatures in each of the rooms. There is a high chance that an outdated furnace will also come with an outdated duct system. It is likely that as a result of this, your unit will be unable to evenly distribute heat throughout the entire house. This will lead to some areas of the house being colder than others.
- Suddenly, you start noticing soot around the registers of your HVAC unit. As a result, this could be an indication that there is too much CO2 in your furnace. This could cause excess dryness throughout the house, including the walls, the plants, and the health of your family.
- There has been a lot of noise coming from your furnace lately. Any excessive rattling, popping, humming, or screeching that you hear is never a positive sign. Usually, when you hear abnormal noises coming from your furnace, it's an indication that something inside it has malfunctioned. This needs to be addressed as soon as possible to prevent more severe problems from developing.
